While most garden designers use similar techniques, the precise processes and documentation used by Garden Asylum have been derived specifically by the designer, Ruth Hill. This methodology has been created to maximise client involvement and make your experience as enjoyable and trouble-free as possible. No other garden designer currently offers the exact same service.

Garden Asylum provides a four phase procedure consisting of:

  • Client consultation and comprehensive site survey
  • Design requirements analysis
  • Design proposal
  • Design solution

client consultation selected

This first stage in the process provides the designer with an opportunity to meet with the client and get a feel for their individual needs, tastes and sense of style – not forgetting other family members and pets.

The consultation is structured with the use of a client checklist and, often, the designer will illustrate different styles and themes with pictures of characteristic gardens.  To help the client to visualise what can be achieved.

A stroll around the garden or site in question with the client also helps to establish how the garden is used, what plants and features need to be preserved, client aspirations, etc.  Following this, the designer will conduct a comprehensive site survey; measuring the proportions of the garden, taking photographs and collecting soil samples.
