While most garden designers use similar techniques, the precise processes and documentation used by Garden Asylum have been derived specifically by the designer, Ruth Hill. This methodology has been created to maximise client involvement and make your experience as enjoyable and trouble-free as possible. No other garden designer currently offers the exact same service.

Garden Asylum provides a four phase procedure consisting of:

  • Client consultation and comprehensive site survey
  • Design requirements analysis
  • Design proposal
  • Design solution

The Design requirements analysis documents the designer’s understanding of the characteristics of the potential site as well as the specific brief for that particular project.

The information contained within this report outlines prerequisites and considerations that the subsequent design must take account of. The client’s input is invaluable at this stage, so the report is intended to promote discussion between client and designer.

The Design requirements analysis will include a site inventory and site analysis. An example of a site inventory is shown here.

At this stage, neither client nor designer are committed to continue with the project. If, having reviewed the Design requirements document, the client is keen to commission a design from Garden Asylum, they indicate this now by signing and returning the Terms of Business form.
